Automatic Fisherman

Introduction

We wanted to make a product that can help fisherman consistently catch any kind, or size, of freshwater fish through the ice. We believe we've done that by creating the Automatic Fisherman™.

When you have it set correctly for the species of fish you are after, you should never have to chase flags again. We have refined the principals built into the Automatic Fisherman™ for more than twenty years. Using the Automatic Fisherman™ will improve your ability to catch fish, because the fish trigger the hook set when they're ready. You don't need to know when to set the hook anymore; the fishing rod does that for you. Using the Automatic Fisherman™ is like you are at every hole.

The Automatic Fisherman™ consists of a rectangular base with two small raised tabs that a vertical arm is fastened to with a nut and a bolt. This vertical arm is known as the trigger arm. This trigger arm is adjustable to accommodate fishing rods from 23 inches to 34 inches. This trigger arm should move freely so it falls down when the fishing rod is not attached. The trigger arm has a hole located at the top for a mercury light and a counterweight on the top so it falls down out of the way to fight the fish. The rectangle base has (v) notches cut out at the bottom, so it can grip the ice when there is not any snow. There is also a perpendicular support that stops the unit from tipping on its side in windy conditions. The base also has a hollow tube that acts as a rod holder, this holder has a support structure to give it extra strength for those really big fish.

Give the Automatic Fisherman™ a try, you won't be disappointed.

There is a one-year warranty that covers manufacturers' defects on the rod, reel, plastic Automatic Fisherman™, and the steel shaft. See the warranty information pagefor more specifics.

The Automatic Fisherman™ -- the new wave in ice fishing technology.

Our Product

The Automatic Fisherman™ is a gas assisted high-density molded plastic unit that is rated for minus 90 degrees. It also has ultra violet protectors in it so the sun can't break down the plastic composition. It is bright red in color for visibility and it is very durable. The unit has at least 1/8" walls and weighs about 2.5lbs, so it will not blow around on the ice. The trigger is made out of stainless steel, and the guide is welded on the shaft.

There is a balsa wood slip bobber included. The bobber stays out of the water and is threaded on the line between the first and second eyelets from the rod handle. The bobber acts as a strike indicator and also as a line stop, so fish can pull slack line out without feeling any resistance. Once the bobber hits the rod eye, it triggers the rod in motion to set the hook, much like a down-rigger would.

We have also embossed a ruler on the side of the base, so you can easily measure your fish, and included tape that you can put around the end of the rod to act as a flag.

The Automatic Fisherman™ is currently sold two ways:

  1. In a molded plastic clamshell that includes the unit, a 27" fishing rod with 5 guides designed for perch, bluegills, crappies etc., a reel with a spare spool, an adjusting tool for the trigger post, and two booklets. One booklet helps you find fish in lakes and streams, and the other will help you use the Automatic Ice Fisherman™ for different fish species.

  2. In a molded plastic clamshell that includes the unit, a 33" fishing rod with 7 guides designed for walleyes, northerns, trout etc., a reel with a spare spool, an adjusting tool for the trigger post, and two booklets. One booklet helps you find fish in lakes and streams, and the other will help you use the Automatic Ice Fisherman™ for different fish species.

The Automatic Fisherman™ is a device that is similar to a tip up but it lets the angler fight the fish on a jig rod. It also helps fishermen catch more fish because fish set the hook when they're ready.

Once the Automatic Fisherman™ is set, use caution so the fishing rod doesn't release and hit you or another person. Enjoy your time out on the ice and remember to practice catch and release -- keep only what you need. Thanks!
